Children's Book Review - Tiny Tadpole

Tiny Tadpole
Author: Judith Nicholls
Reading level: Baby-Preschool
Board book: 12 pages
Publisher: Scholastic

Review

With rhymes, colorful graphics that have embedded sensory textures, this entertaining board book explains the life cycle or maturing of a frog from tadpole stage to full grown.

Freddie is impatient to grow, but it takes time and he keeps growing as he heeds the older frog’s advice to eat well and be patient. Thanks to the embedded textures, readers can feel the black jiggly tadpole, its jiggle-jaggle tail, its webbed feel and more. The finale is a pull-out featuring a full-grown Freddie the frog.

In Short

This interactive rhyming book tells the story in a way that’s simple for its target audience to understand and keeps them engaged and entertained throughout with the sensory textures and vivid imagery.
